Museum des Tissus

Museum des Tissus itself is sorely in need of signage / labeling updating and renewal. It is one of the Historic Sites, History Museums, Art Museums

Next door to the Musée des Arts-Décoratifs , in the 1730 Palais de Villeroy, is an even more interesting collection. On view are priceless fabrics from all over the world, spanning 2,000 years. Some of the finest fabrics made in Lyon from the 18th century to the present are displayed. The 15th- and 16th-century textiles embroidered with religious motifs are noteworthy, as are the 17th-century Persian carpets. Look for the partridge-motif brocade from Marie Antoinette's bedchamber at Versailles, as well as a 150-color brocaded satin woven for Queen Victoria, which is decorated with birds of paradise and orchids.
